Should i leave him alone? or give him a chance?

ive been talking to this guy for about two years. back in 2007 i met him at a club and i wanted nothing to do with him. he was would call me and because his friend was talking to my roommate he always came over. at that time i had a boyfriend and i was happy. one day i got a text from him saying how he really liked me and he wanted to be my boyfriend. at that time me and my boyfriend broke up. after that him (brandon) and i started to hang out all the time. i really started to like brandon but one day i lost contact with him. last year 2008 i found an old phone of mine that had his number and i called it and he answered. we hung out and we rekindled the old flame. we had and i started to really love him. it was crazy but one thing we never were bf gf. when i asked him about it he would say that he didnt want a gf, that he was a player and he doesnt want to hurt me. i should have let him go then but we continued to talk and we had again. i am so fustrated about the whole thing i really like him and he told me he really likes me but he doesnt want to be my bf. what should i do? should i leave him alone? tell me the truth please
