If all natural resources deplete what will our mechanical life look like?

Some resources *do* deplete (for example, fossil fuels, nuclear fuel). *Many* resources are recyclable and are so plentiful that we cannot "deplete" them in the foreseeable future (iron, silicon). It is difficult to imagine a time and (over)population which makes use of all the iron in the planet, for example.
