Five day old baby, and I need help!!!?

WHy they say you can only do one or the other is because babies usually start to prefer one- or formula- over the other. If you want to continue feeding, why not just switch the baby back over to you and continue the feeding? I had to formula feed, but that is because when my son was learning how to latch, a nurse gave him a bottle of formula- after that he never had anything to do with my again.
